#FrenchCharter 📜

On November 17, the French Ministry of Higher Education and Research presented the Charter for Responsible Innovation in Neurotechnology to stakeholders in the field.

Co-written by myBrain Technologies and several other public and private parties, this charter establishes a new framework of reference and values for the development and monitoring of neuroscience technologies.

With the ambition of protecting our fellow citizens, it aims:
✓ to protect personal brain data,
✓ to ensure the reliability, safety and security of medical and non-medical devices,
✓ to develop ethical and deontological communication,
✓ to prevent misuse, applications and malicious manipulation,
✓ to take into account societal expectations.

It is a great pleasure to participate in the presentation of the french ethical charter for responsible innovation in neurotechnologies.

Yohan Attal, CEO of myBrain Technologies

Following the recommendations of the OECD (Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development), the signing of this charter is in line with recent initiatives aimed at helping public authorities and innovators anticipate and face ethical, legal and social challenges, while promoting innovation in this field.

Fully integrated into our societies, the ability of neurotechnologies to probe and interfere with an individual’s brain activity is challenging notions of identity, integrity and autonomy of the human being.

Several recent initiatives aim to help public authorities and innovators anticipate and face the ethical, legal and social challenges raised by neurotechnologies. In France, the main stakeholders in the field signed the first Charter for the Responsible Development of Neurotechnologies in November.

This is an opportunity to discuss in a new article the possibilities for innovation in this field, but also the ethical limits that must be set.
